The Régie du bâtiment du Québec requires that the installation and maintenance of the heating system be entrusted to a specialized professional holding an RBQ license, regardless of the type of system. The electrical connection of heating appliances must also be done by a master electrician.

You should have your heating system inspected annually, preferably before the start of the heating season. During this inspection, we ensure that:

- Your heating system receives enough fresh air
- The combustion gases are completely evacuated
- The size of the openings through which the air is routed allows an adequate supply of air in order to minimize the production of CO.

In the event of a fire, your insurer may ask you for proof of inspection.
If you are doing renovations, such as finishing the basement, replacing windows or insulating the house, it is best to have your heating system inspected. This work could alter the air intake, prevent complete combustion and therefore increase the production of CO.
